Black Friday Jewellery Sale 2026: How to Shop Smart for Earrings and Charms
Black Friday 2026 in Australia falls on Friday 27 November, and most big retailers run their sales through the weekend to Cyber Monday on 30 November. If you want earrings you’ll wear for years, a little planning helps. This guide covers how to spot a genuine deal, what to check before you buy, and why interchangeable charms are a clever sale-day pick.
When is Black Friday 2026 in Australia?
The date is Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. In practice the sales start earlier: most major Australian retailers begin from around Monday 23 November (Mozo). It’s also a big event. Australians spent a record $23.8 billion over the 2025 Black Friday fortnight (AAP).
How to spot a genuine Black Friday deal
Not every sale is as good as it looks. The ACCC swept 50 Black Friday sellers in 2025 and found about half made concerning claims, including inflated original prices, “sitewide” savings that were very limited, and countdown timers that reset (AAP). A few habits protect you:
- Check prices before the sale starts. The ACCC encourages shoppers to check prices ahead of time (Ragtrader).
- Read the fine print. The ACCC has flagged “up to X% off” claims where few items are discounted at the maximum rate (Mediaweek).
- Judge the piece, not just the percentage. A good price on the wrong materials still isn’t a good price.
What to check before buying jewellery in a sale
- The metal. Look for specifics, not vague words like “gold-look” or “gold tone”. Gold vermeil is a gold layer of at least 10 carats and at least 2.5 microns thick over sterling silver (92.5% pure silver), whereas ordinary gold-plated pieces can have as little as 0.1 to 0.5 microns of gold (Atkinson’s Bullion). - The gemstones. Ask whether they’re natural or lab-created. Jewellery marketing guidelines call for clear terms such as “laboratory-grown” or “laboratory-created” for man-made stones (Responsible Jewellery Council summary of the FTC Jewelry Guides). - Sensitive ears. Check that the metal is hypoallergenic. Our pieces are hypoallergenic and finished with an electrophoretic coating (e-coating).
- Care instructions. Be wary of anyone calling jewellery “waterproof”. Take your earrings out before swimming, bathing and showering. Ours are tarnish resistant, but all sterling silver can tarnish over time.
